Guys. They’ve all gone. All 50 have been preordered. This is crazy. Absolutely huge for someone like me. I just wanted to say another massive thank you for picking up a copy of the vinyl and making this whole thing ACTUALLY HAPPEN. Still crazy to me that it's a thing!

I've been reliably informed that it'll all be pressed in June, so you can expect it to wing its way to your doors around then!

Here's me having a celebratory cider or 2 the night we hit target!

Thank you!

February 5th - Limited Edition 'Constant Fictions' Vinyl!

Good news! My label, Aaahh!!! Real Records have teamed up with Diggers Factory to offer an EXTREMELY LIMITED and PRE-ORDER ONLY vinyl version of my album "Constant Fictions". This will only be pressed if we get enough orders, and there will only be FIFTY copies in existence! If you want one, act quickly! 24 have already been snapped up!

(If we don't hit the target, Diggers Factory will refund all orders and you'll lose nothing.)

I never dreamed my music would ever be on vinyl (and to be fair, unless we get the numbers I'll continue to dream) It would be absolutely incredible if this happened!

*EDIT* Only 22 days left to go on this...

So that's it, tour is all finished and now I'm sad. The last few weeks on tour with Gaz Brookfield and Jake Martin have been an absolute blast. I've loved every minute. Whether it's sharing a stage or their company, it's a pleasure. Thanks for putting up with me guys. I'll miss our slightly vile smelling travelodges.

Huge thank you to anyone who came down early and caught my sets/said hello/picked up merch over the past few weeks. It's been great to see old faces and new in the crowds. I hope to see you all again soon!

(The story so far)

Modern folk that’s as powerful as it is personal

Modern and authentic folk delivered with power, personality and purpose. B-SYDES (aka rising singer-songwriter Ben Sydes) has been capturing the hearts and minds of audiences since his first EPs and critically-acclaimed debut album ‘Constant Fictions’.

Having shared the stage with the likes of Frank Turner, Gaz Brookfield, Ferocious Dog, Sam Duckworth, Dave McPherson and countless more, he’s honed his craft, found his true voice, and has set himself up to chase the many ambitions within his music.

Sydes’ introduction to music came in his early teens, inspired by the music his older brother would play from his bedroom. Before long, Sydes found a new “freedom” and a way out of “the rut” by teaching himself guitar. He found himself playing in alternative bands around the Cambridge scene.

Soon, he grew tired and frustrated. In going solo, he found freedom all over again - and the rest of the world started to listen. Punktastic hailed his ‘undeniable passion’, while Big Cheese touted his ‘raw emotion and conviction’ - all of which was at the heart and soul of ‘Constant Fictions’.

“The proudest moment was finishing and releasing my debut album,” Sydes admits. “I really wanted to take my time and get the songs right, get the right people in playing on the record and involved in general. I really think we did that.”

The proof of that can only come from the dedication of the people who enjoy it. “My fanbase is very passionate and supportive,” says Sydes. “They're willing to travel to shows, sometimes great distance, which is always a compliment.”

It’s on stage where Sydes really comes into his own, where his punk-tinged troubadour energy is allowed to breathe.

“Although I mostly play solo, I think I manage to cover most of the stage during my set,” says Sydes of his live presence. “Not in terms of running around like a headless chicken, more like learning to use the space properly and seem comfortable - even when you're not. I'm always one to tell a story about a song or what's happened that day to try raise a smile or a chuckle from the audience.”

Just listen to his single ‘The Desperate Dance’ - It’s the truth of the ordinary that lies at the heart of Sydes’ music. It’s about breathing fun into real life. There’s no far flung fantasy at work here, just a voice trying to music that’s extraordinary but relatable.

“Everyday life inspires me to write,” says Sydes. “It's mostly personal experience. I'm forever scribbling in notebooks or writing notes in my phone of lines and phrases. The only time I've written about a fictional tale was the only time I've ever had an audience member hit me with a tirade of abuse, so I think I'll stick with the personal stories. I've never thought I have the knowledge of politics to take on whatever is this weeks big issue. For me I'd much rather have a room of happy, people having a sing than challenging people.”

The next challenge comes as Sydes finishes work on his second album. With a host of friends and collaborators on board and even more ideas, his next release will take him to ever more adventurous places.

“I was really happy with the sound on the last album and I'd be happy to have more of the same in the best way possible,” he said of album number two. “I measure success by how many voices I have singing back to me at a show. Winning over a crowd is such a special feeling and touring can be a rollercoaster of successes and losses. You just have to take the rough with the smooth.”
